A Legacy Built on Giving

Since our beginning in 1921, we have upheld a tradition of excellence that was established by Dr. W.B. Carrell, one of our founders. Dr. Carrell was deeply devoted to the field of orthopaedics, children, and our community. It was his drive, dedication, and high standards that started the legacy we continue to support today through the two public nonprofit charities we proudly support.

Carrell Clinic Shoulder and Elbow Foundation

Founded in 2004, the Carrell Clinic Shoulder and Elbow Foundation is a nonprofit Texas corporation with the mission to develop and improve the standard of quality shoulder and elbow treatment in our community as well as nationally and internationally.

This foundation supports and promotes shoulder and elbow research and helps advance the field of shoulder and elbow care. It also funds yearlong surgical fellowships for orthopaedic surgeons who want to subspecialize in the shoulder and elbow.

Building upon what Dr. Carrell started 100 years ago when he helped create the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, the Carrell Clinic Foundation assists patients who age out of the hospital’s services in getting the care they need. The Carrell Clinic Foundation is founded and focused on a devotion to helping young people preserve or regain their mobility and independence so they can live life to the fullest.

Headed by Dr. Daniel Cooper as board chairman, the Carrell Clinic Foundation’s mission is to strengthen and expand upon the work Dr. Carrell started by supporting four important needs in the field of musculoskeletal medicine: charity care, research, education, and patient advocacy.
