My Comeback Story: Thomas S.

I would like to personally thank Dr. Andrew Dossett and Dr. William Hotchkiss for giving me the opportunity to resume a meaningful quality of life.
I’ve had back pain for most of my adult life. Degenerative disk disease has resulted in three prior surgeries over the past 9 years in Shreveport, and eventually a forced retirement.

Because I was looking at another surgery, friends recommended I contact Dr. Andrew Dossett, at Carrell Clinic in Dallas, TX. After my consultation appointments with Dr. Dossett in May of 2024, he introduced me to Dr. William Hotchkiss, who would be my surgeon. I was told that within a year of my surgery I could be back on the golf course. My spirits were so high and I was excited and confident that this surgery could give me relief from pain - giving me the ability to resume an active lifestyle.

My surgeries took place on August 5 & 7 of 2024! On August 8, I was up walking straighter than I had in 9 years!
The hospital staff at North Central Surgery Center were top notch! ALL the doctors, nurses, aides, physical therapists, housekeeping and food staff were the best I’ve ever had.

For 2 years I used a walking stick, I no longer depend on a walking stick! I now experience life without pain as I can do yard work, walk, exercise in the pool and gym. My wife and I drove over 5300 miles to Oregon and back home - walking in Sequoia National Forest, vineyards and Yellowstone National Park, sightseeing along the way. All activities that I was unable to do prior to this surgery. I’ve recently been able to enjoy my favorite pastime, golf. Something I haven’t been able to do in 7 years. I’m now able to take easy swings at the driving range with no pain, which is very exciting and with the help of my PT, I’m looking forward for the opportunity to play golf soon.

Dr. Hotchkiss and Dr. Dossett are very considerate, kind and helpful as they explained the surgeries and what I needed to do to make a full recovery, making sure I felt comfortable with their explanation and answering all my questions.

God has blessed me with two excellent doctors and outstanding caregivers at Carrell Clinic!
