My Comeback Story: James M.

Base of the Towers, Torres Del Paine National Park, Patagonia

My name is James McCoy and in January of 2024, I knew that this was the year to do something about my knees. After encouragement from my friend Dr. Bobby Lawson, I contacted Dr. Paul Peters' office, at the Carrell Clinic in Dallas, Texas for an initial consultation. The process was very straight forward, and painless. I received a prompt response. After seeing Dr. Peters, I had a date for my right knee and a date for my left knee 3 months later. June 5th and September 4th. Both experiences were fantastic. I had the best care in the hospital and had all my questions answered. I was discharged after both surgeries and given great instructions on what to expect and what to do for a quick, complete recovery. Brad Hicks, was my PT at West Texas Rehab, and was totally satisfied with his hands on approach.

Fast forward to Sept 2025, my 1 year follow up appointment, Dr. Peters said everything looked perfect and I was free to do whatever. I told him about our upcoming trip to Patagonia, and he said it would be great, just "don't fall off a mountain." On November 9th, it was the beginning of the O Circuit Trek, which took us through the entirety of the Torres Del Paine national park. From the famous three towers to John Garner Pass, it is considered as one of the best treks in the world. After 8 days, we hiked approximately 80 miles. The trails were demanding but rewarding. We were taught the value of perseverance, and gratitude for God's creation.

This once unattainable trip became a reality thanks to the care I received from Dr. Peters, staff at the Carrell Clinic, and therapist Brad Hicks.
