My Comeback Story: Demetric C.
I am a meat cutter, I unload heavy meat trucks and cut for a local grocery store. On January 2, I thought my life had been changed for the worse, an experience I have never in my entire life would haunt me and my family. I was unloading a meat truck when I fell down and landed on my left shoulder. I was in pain that I had never felt before and I cut my hands many times in my career, stitches and all, but not like this. I had to wait for workers compensation and when Dr. Moen told me that I had to have rotator surgery, I thought, "oh my goodness, I have to leave my profession and start all over again."
He reassured me that he would make sure that my left arm would be good or even better than my right. After the surgery he sat down in the recovery area and he said to me, "Now it’s your turn to do your part in this situation. Work hard in therapy and except some pain as part of the recovery, and get your shoulder back the way it’s supposed to be." So I did and to my surprise I started to notice that my left arm was getting just as strong as my right! I couldn’t believe it, but Dr. Moen was right. After two months I was ready to go back to work.
I was so proud and excited to tell him that my left arm was now stronger than my right and my wife and I bought a new boat. He was so happy and proud of the work I put into recovery. I told him that I would never forget what he did for me and to this day, I know that if something happens to my body that requires surgery—if it’s a knee shoulder or anything like—that I know exactly who to go to.
God bless you ,Dr. Moen. I thank the lord every day before eating for the opportunity to meet Dr. Moen. Thank you for letting me tell my story. –Demetric C.
