My Comeback Story: Daniel K.
Patient Name
City, State
After a serious fall, I came to the clinic for surgery. I was blessed to have Dr Klein do my surgery.
This is an amazing doctor, was totally transparent with what was to follow the surgery and
was very clear in what to expect. The hardest part for me was 3 months of inactivity after the operation.
I am happy to say that I have a 100% recovery, full range of motion and I'm back to a very active life style
Here are my takeaways/recommendations to get back to 100%
1) MOTION IS LOTION! What they say IS TRUE Once your OK to do PT, the more motion you get in your muscles the better
you will feel. Will you be Uncomfortable at times YES! Does it get BETTER? YES!
2) Its called "Your Recovery" for a reason.....the outcome your achieve is entirely up to YOU!
if you simply go to PT, do your exercise and go home and try to return to routine life, your progress will be slow and you
may never get back to 100 % You have one chance for 100% recovery and the time is NOW!
You will be faced with TWO CHOICES: THE PAIN of Discipline or, THE Pain of REGET!
After starting PT, I woke each morning to a hot shower, The warmth sooths the shoulders and loosened the muscles.
Next, while drinking my coffee, I used a heating pad on my shoulder for 20-30 minutes
I would then complete the current sets of exercises I was doing during PT at home each day. I also suggest
dong the PT exercise on BOTH shoulders each day. After an hour of PT each day, I would then use a recirculating
cold sleeve with a cooler full of ice water on my shoulder. The heating pad and shoulder cold sleeve are worth the
investment and will aide in your recovery. I continued this routine every morning for the next 7 months after the start of PT.
2) As part of your PT, you will start doing weight training to rebuild strength in your shoulder.
At the end of PT, I suggest starting a weekly weight training program. Start slow!
Your muscles have atrophied over the past year and it take time to regain that muscle mass.
3) Keep an eye on the scale as you recover. Its easy to put on some extra pounds during
recovery due to your decreased activity levels
In addition to Dr Klein, I also want to thank the PT department staff. This group is AWESOME
and I would not have gotten back to 100% without their loving care and guidance. KUDOS!
God Bless You All!
