My Comeback Story: Barbara S J.

After talking with a friend who had just had hip replacement, I immediately called Carrell Clinic and made an appointment to see Dr. Brian Gladnick, her surgeon. For three years, I had been seen by several doctors and orthopedic specialists for the excruciating pain in my back. MRIs showed "bone on bone" hip joints, but no doctor would consider hip replacement "at your age", which was 89 at the time. My friend was almost 91 and had had her hip replaced at Carrell Clinic.

It took three months to get an appointment with Dr. Gladnick but when I finally saw him, he assured me that he had operated on quite a few patients older than I and with good results. After three years of constant pain which was not alleviated by pain meds such as gabapentin, hydrocodone or fentanyl patches, I was ready to try anything that would help. Dr. Gladnick performed my surgeries in 2024, one in February and one the end of July, both successfully. He literally saved me from a life of unending pain and despair at not being able to do anything I had previously enjoyed. Except for the usual discomforts of old age, I am now painfree and can do most ot the things I did before. I use a cane or walker when needed to do my usual activities and I am enjoying life again.
