The Carrell Clinic will not be a part of the Aetna network effective January 15, 2019

November 29, 2018

This is to inform you of a potential change in our insurance network status with Aetna at The Carrell Clinic to help you make your health insurance decision during your open enrollment period. As of January 15th, 2019, we will no longer be in-network with Aetna unless Aetna and the Carrell Clinic are able to come to a mutually acceptable agreement.

Although we will still accept Aetna plans today, we are being forced to consider whether we can continue participating in Aetna plans. These decisions are never easy, and while we hope we can work with Aetna to remain in network, we are being told we will be required to take a significant reduction in payment that makes continued participation nearly impossible.

Our priority is to continue to provide high quality care to our patients, as we always have. It is important to us that you know that although we made the difficult decision to go out-of-network with Aetna, we are not dismissing Aetna patients. However, as an out-of-network patient, you will be responsible for a greater cost share than you would if The Carrell Clinic continued to stay in the Aetna network. If we are unable to reach an agreement with Aetna and you choose to continue to receive services from The Carrell Clinic after January 15, 2019, we will assist you with your benefit information so that we can provide you with an estimate of your costs.

We will continue to keep you aware of our network status and will do our best to work with Aetna on the agreement. If you have concerns, we encourage you to discuss this with your Human Resources and Benefits Department.
